Writing Samples
I started technical writing in 1997, after a few years of technical training. CALC/Canterbury shifted me from the training department to the writing department, and it's proven an excellent fit. I've expanded beyond the writing to working with graphics, web design, and instructional design.
2000 - BLIIP Manual
I helped write this manual while working at e-Presence. It was a collaborative effort written by my team.
2000 - Netscape Trainer Manual
This manual was a solo project, also written while I was with e-Presence. I worked with one of our partner companies, TrainTracs.
2002 - Paragon Administrator's Guide
When I arrived at Raritan Computer, the existing documents had been written by an engineer whose first language was not English. This document was one of my first efforts to overhaul Raritan's documentation.
2006 - Dominion KX User Guide
Over time, I created a Raritan template and Standardization Guide. The documents morphed into what you see here.
* Incidentally, I am once again working for Raritan, this time as a consultant. The Documentation Team I used to manage needed an extra set of eyes to review documents and ensure they meet all standards. Reading through my old docs makes me feel like a proud parent!
2008 - DBA Operations Guide
My current project with TRX, Inc. is a live document that continues to grow. The information was gathered almost completely by telephone. Getting information out of developers can be tough work even when you're face-to-face - there's no showing up with a box of doughnuts at a WebEx! This has been challenging, but it is working out very well. Please contact me for details.
